Porsche 928


1977 Initial introduction of the Porsche 928 (Model 1978) with a 4.5 liter engine 1980 The 928S entered the market. Spoilers and a stronger 4.7 liter engine where the major enhancements. In 1982 the 4.5 liter model was discontinued. 1984 The 928S's engine was updated with the LH-Jettronic fuel injection for better performance and lower fuel consumption.

The 928 was the first automobile to have ABS as a stock option installed. 1986 The latest 928S was optional available with the first 5.0 liter 32 valve engine (288 HP). 1987 928S was replaced by the 928 S4 with the 5.0 liter engine, now updated with 320 HP. The front and rear was updated with the "new" S4 design. 1989 The 928GT (5.0 liter, 330 HP, manual transmission) was introduced as the "sporty" version of the 928 S4. 1990 From model 1990 on the 928 S4 was only available with automatic transmission, while the GT was only available with manual transmission.

Both models where equipped with the new design '90 rims. 1992 The 928 GTS replaced the 928S4+928GT now offering a 5.4 liter (350HP) engine and a wider fenders in the rear and 17" CUP design rims. 1995 In September the production of the 928 was discontinued. For the last months preproduced cars have been manually completed.
